There’s so much information out there about ADHD. While some of it is helpful, much of it is presented in a negative or shaming manner and often focuses on how ADHD impacts others rather than the person experiencing it. I’ve attempted to find resources that feel like they accurately represent the range of experiences of having ADHD. I’m excited to share this treasure trove of resources with others!
I update this resource list on a quarterly basis, so check back frequently. You are welcome to share this resource list with anyone who may find it helpful and may credit Bobbi-Jo Molokken of Embrace the Muchness LLC if you’d like to link to it on your own site.
You may email info at embracethemuchness.com if you find any broken links or would like to suggest a resource be added to the list. I generally will not include resources that link directly to individual service providers or those that do not fall within the scope. If you send a suggested edit, I will add it to my list for quarterly review and do not have the capacity to respond to all suggestion emails directly.
*Please note inclusion on this list does not mean that Embrace the Muchness LLC endorses the information contained below, that the information is accurate, or that it will be personally helpful to you. These resources do not constitute medical or mental health care. Please use these resources with your own discretion.

Books
How to ADHD: An Insider’s Guide to Working with Your Brain Not Against It - Written by Jessica McCabe of How to ADHD Youtube Channel. This book has an excellent mix of education, relatable stories and strategies.
Dirty Laundry: Why Adults with ADHD Are So Ashamed and What We Can Do To Help - Written by Richard Pink & Roxanne Emery. Written by an ADHD partner and non-ADHD partner each shares their perspective and it’s filled with strategies for both individuals with ADHD & their partners. This book is written in a very ADHD friendly way with short chapters.
ADHD is Awesome: A Guide to (Mostly) Thriving with ADHD - Written by Penn & Kim Holderness, content creators, Penn is an ADHD adult and Kim is his non-ADHD partner, they are parents to an ADHD child. The book provides an overview of ADHD, discussions on impacts on relationships, parenting and strategies for managing it. It’s written in an ADHD friendly way and even has colored pages, some graphics and photos included. If the title, “ADHD is Awesome” makes you wonder if it’s going to have toxic positivity vibes, it doesn’t. The share the dictionary definition of the word awesome on the first page and ADHD does indeed fit that definition.
ADHD 2.0 - Edward Hallowell & John Ratey - The information about understanding the way ADHD brains work in this book captures the experience well. There is some deficit based language and recommendations shared (such as ABA) that I do not support, so I encourage taking what’s valuable and leaving the rest with this one.
